VIDEO: Yves Baril

Here are two videos of an interview with Yves Baril. They're in French but they both have English subtitles.

While the more specific talk is about banknotes, we do get a glimpse of what I think is his 6c Centennial stamp lying on his desk.

Video two deals with the infamous Devils' Face on the Canadian banknotes, which Yves Baril had to erase. This is his re-engraved portrait.

  1. Great videos, Adrian. Thanks. I was not aware of the "Devil's Face," in this banknote. Interesting! I will look for it.

    1. You will find more on that story on my blog here: http://stampengravers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/the-devils-face.html (or just search for devil).

  2. Hi Adrian
I wonder why he says the stamps had to be redrawn as well. I always thought it was only a problem with the bank note.

    1. I checked the video but it is a case of wrong subtitles. If you watch him, it's clear he says "all the stamps", then realises he said something wrong so he goes on to correct himself by saying "all the banknotes". The subtitles wrongly add "and". So it is the banknotes only which had to be re-engraved.
